Most people are not fussy eaters. If tasty food is kept is front of us, we tend to eat it. Most of us genuinely care about our well-being and want to take the extra step, but are often lost with regard to what to eat.
But if you read my last newsletter and were inspired to start adding raw salad’s before your heaviest meal, I got you covered. Here is how I make my salad’s fun:
Tip #1: Ditch the Iceberg!
Iceberg lettuce is the tofu of the salad world – bland and versatile, but ultimately forgettable. Spice things up with baby greens, or a mix of textures like spinach and kale. Variety is the spice of life (and salads)!
Tip #2: Think Beyond the Croutons!
Croutons are like the khaki pants of toppings – reliable, but yawn-inducing. Get creative! Toast some nuts for a satisfying crunch. Crumble some vegan cheese for a salty kick. Even a sprinkle of pumpkin seeds can add a delightful pop of texture and flavor.
Tip #3: Embrace the Power of Fruit!
Diced apples, juicy pomegranate, or a handful of berries add a delightful burst of flavor and a welcome dose of vitamins. Who knew healthy could be this delicious?
Tip #4: Dress Up Your Dressing!
Store-bought dressings can be loaded with sugar and sodium. Whip up your own dressing every week!
Bonus points for a homemade tahini dressing for a creamy, Middle Eastern twist!
Tip #5: Get Saucy!
Salads don't have to be dry affairs! Drizzle a dollop of pesto for a burst of basil and garlic. Spoon on some hummus for a creamy chickpea delight. Even a touch of hot sauce can add a fiery kick and wake up your taste buds.
