If you are new to my newsletters, here is the challenge we have taken up for this month!
This week, let’s explore herbal teas.
Most often, when we think we are hungry, we really are only thirsty. We do not drink as much water as we should be drinking but eat foods high in salt that only increase the need to hydrate in our bodies.
If I were to make a tasty lifestyle change around this, it would be to strategically punctuate our day with herbal teas. I have written in-depth about the benefits of herbal tea in this article here:
Herbal teas are a blend of specific herbs, flowers, roots, leaves and even twigs of medicinal plants.
These herbal blends could or could not be caffinated. I personally prefer the sweeter, flower blends that are not caffinated. You could make your own fragrant blend at home with even basic spices. For example, I love making a ginger and lemon blend some mornings.
Besides providing hydration, herbal tea’s are a great way to:
Avoid caffeine intake through coffee’s and stronger tea’s.
Heal your body as specific herbs could be medicinal.
An excellent way to supress appetite and avoid mid- meal snacks.
Reduce inflammation and improve digestion.
So What Is The Challenge?
Include 2-3 herbal tea’s per day, everyday.
You could choose:
digestive tea’s like peppermint and fennal to be had with your meals,
immunity boosting herbs like ginger, turmeric, lemon and cloves to be had in the first half of the day or
even floral herbs like chamomile, jasmine etc to be had before bedtime.
The chocies are upto you. Refer to this blog if you need herbal tea’s for specific ailments. I also suggest sourcing your herbal tea’s from the best of the brands or making your own blend at home.
We will discuss the benefits of herbal tea’s in the next blog. But for now, start brewing!
Trust this helps,
